I. Coordinates all activities of the organization
II. Serves as liaison to the University community
III. Official representative of organization
IV. Calls Executive Board and member meetings
V. Presides at all meetings
VI. Prepares agendas for meetings
I. Contacts FESO advisor to reserve rooms for all meetings/events. The rooms must be reserved in May for the fall semester and in December for the spring semester.
II. Delegates authority to other Executive Board members. This is particularly important for the Annual Awards Banquet.
III. Checks in with other Executive Board members to see that the necessary tasks are being completed. All unofficial duties can be re-delegated as the President sees fit. Official duty changes require a constitutional amendment.
IV. Acquires sponsors to help ASA financially throughout the year.
V. Greets presenters before the start of the meeting.
VI. Provide all Executive Board members with their previous Executive Board member’s duties in writing to serve as a guide.
VII. Reviews monthly bank statements for accuracy (obtained through Wells Fargo), then give the statements to the Treasurer for reconciliation and filing.
VIII. Signs all checks written by ASA (along with the Treasurer).
IX. Creates a budget with the Treasurer at the beginning of each semester.
X. Responsible for sending out meeting/event reminders over the listserv or posting it on Blackboard.
XI. Keep Blackboard up to date in all areas.
XII. Oversee website and ensure that all content is appropriate and updated.
XIII. Select awards to be given at the end of the year.
XIV. Update Faculty Advisor on current events and Executive Board member progress. The President and Advisor should meet every other week to discuss these issues.
XV. Updates the Executive Board member manual at conclusion of every year and makes new copies for incoming Executive Board members. It is imperative that the manual is backed up and passed on to the new President.
XVI. Keeps accurate records of all efforts made during the year in a folder so that next year’s Executive Board member will have an example to follow. The President must also keep and review previous President’s records.
